Free Crochet Baby Hat and Cocoon Pattern

Is there anything sweeter than a tiny baby bundled up in a cozy cocoon?

This cozy set makes up quickly and easily using super bulky yarn and large hook – perfect for a beginner!

ABBREVIATION
ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
sc – single crochet
st – stitch
sts – stitches
rpt – repeat

MATERIALS
10 mm hook
11.5 mm hook
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Markers
250 g – 6 Super Bulky yarn 1 metre satin ribbon

DIRECTIONS – Work in continuous rounds Cocoon

Using 11.5 mm Ch 2
Rnd 1: 10 hdc into 2nd ch from hook (10)
Rnd 2: Hdc in 1st st, *2 hdc in next , hdc in next* rpt till end of round (15) Rnd 3: 2 hdc in 1st and each st around (30)
Rnds 4-20: Hdc in 1st st and each st around (30)
Rnd 21: Sc in 1st st and each st around (30)

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Newborn Hat 13”x5”
Using 11.5 mm Ch 2

Rnd 1: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook (5)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in 1st and each st around (10)
Rnd 3: 2 hdc in 1st st and each st around (20)
Rnds 4-6: Hdc in 1st st and each st around (20)

Change to 10 mm hook
Rnds 7-8: Sc in 1st and each st around (20) Fasten off and weave in ends.

Optional

Weave ribbon through hdc and tie bow.
